June 2026 freight market update: capacity tightens, fuel stays volatile

TFG Global's June 2026 update says effective capacity is being reduced by carrier capacity management, geopolitical disruption, fuel cost pressure and longer network routings. Global container pricing rose in late May according to the Drewry World Container Index, and Sea-Intelligence put global schedule reliability at 62.2% in March, with late vessels averaging 5.48 days behind.

Fuel feeds bunker adjustment factors, air freight pricing and domestic transport costs, and Asia-Australia services are becoming more service-sensitive.
